12/30/2008Although Texas Stadium has seen it's last NFL game, and the season may be over for the Cowboys - and in a rather unspectacular (actually embarrassing, to be honest) fashion, no less - they're still giving tours for a little while, so we made this our second stop on our day-long outing with the kids. It was even more exciting than we could have hoped, and (you guessed it) we took lots of picture to commemorate the occasion. Some fun facts for you: - Completed in 1972 at a cost of $35M (Tony Romo's current contract is for $66M)
- Seats 69,000 fans (up from 35,000 at the Cotton Bowl)
- Suites cost $50K (purchased as a bond from the City of Irving) at launch
- The new stadium has cost $1.1B so far, and will seat 120,000 people
- Suites there will cost around $3M
Okay, enough with the chit-chat...
12/26/2008Meet Sam, Andy and Abby's gift from Santa. (Remind me to have a chat with Santa later about how it's not a good idea to give people puppies at Christmastime.) He's a 7 week old chocolate lab, and he is a very cute, very lovable handful. We will be posting more about Christmas later, but here are some pictures of Sam in the mean time. 12/11/2008I'm leaving in the morning to do a production upgrade at a company in Regina (don't laugh), Saskatchewan, Canada over the next 6 days. Weekend work trips are exceedingly rare, and while I'm bummed about having to miss 3 different Christmas parties, this is what I'm mostly concerned about:

Yikes! I have a friend in Regina (don't laugh) who talks about how cold it gets there, and we give him a lot of grief about it. I guess what goes around comes around, eh? 11/28/2008
Yes, I realize that you're probably reading this with a stomach full of turkey and dressing (or at least with a recent memory of a tryptophan-induced coma).. and that Kristie's been asking me to blog for about 3 weeks now. So I'm finally getting around to pictures of our Super Girl (TM) and land-lubbing pirate and their candy-collecting adventures from Halloween.
Our first stop for Halloween festivities was Fire Safety Town, our local FD's mini-city, complete with replica buildings, toll booths, and stop lights, where they gave out candy by the handful at each "business". We went with my brother and two of his kids, and came home with enough candy to use to satisfy trick-or-treaters for the next 3 years.
We also participated in our church's annual Fall Festival, where we watched the kids load up on more sugar when we weren't manning the rides and games.
To add to our booty (and, for the next month or so, our bootys), there was still the traditional door-to-door approach on Halloween night.

This is the joke Abby told me at bedtime tonight:
Abby: "Knock, knock"
Me: "Who's there?"
Abby: "Why did the cup spill the chocolate milk?"
Me: "Why?"
Abby: "Because somebody knocked it over." Insert raucous laughter here.
I don't get it either, but she sure thought it was funny. 10/22/2008
Last Saturday, we took a trip to the pumpkin patch up the street at Pumpkins on the Prairie. I know it's not the best pumpkin patch around, but it's very close and everything is free except for the pumpkins. We've been going there for the past few years to get our pumpkin to carve on Halloween.
Notice, if you will, Andy's dirty knees. We just came from a soccer game.
Also notice, if you will, how horribly crooked this picture of Abby is. Steve is always telling me my pictures are crooked and I tell him he's crazy. This one I can maybe see what he's talking about.
Anyway, the best part of the day was the face painter. She is actually one of the teachers at the preschool where Abby goes and where I work, but I had no idea she was so talented.
Thanks, Ms. Denise!
